Built in 1928 by the government as the first Parador. It has views of the mountains and river valley Situated only 11 miles away from this Parador, you will discover the most spectacular attraction of the Gredos circle of mountains. Also worth visiting are Almanzor, Laguna Grande, and Poza Esmeralda proving this is an ideal place to discover nature at its best.

Being the first of the Paradores since 1928, it is possible to experience the exquisite atmosphere set among crystalline waters, wild rocks and green pine groves. Its location on El Alto del Risquillo, is a privileged viewpoint of the Tormes valley, the Gredos massif and the Piedrahita and Bejar mountain ranges.
This Paradors' sturdy stone walls conceal an interior in which the comfortable bedrooms, some having terraces, are located. The classicism of wood prevails in the dining room, library and living rooms. The presence of granite columns and the furniture offer a traditional style of Castile.
The restaurant at the Parador makes full use of the fresh vegetables and meats of the region. The famous bean dish of the region is called "Judias del Barco" beans. The quality of the veal chops is outstanding and it is well known for its roast meats including suckling pig. The fresh mountain trout should also be tried.

Discover Avila, the walled city and visit the cathedral, the Alcazar, and the Saint Teresa's birthplace. Other recommended points of interest are the villages of Ramacastana and Arenas de San Pedro, where you can visit the medieval bridge and the Castle of ”Triste Condesa” (”Sad Countess”).
Participate in the feasts of Avila. Apart from offering the visitors an unforgettable Easter, also celebrate on October 15th the feast of Saint Teresa a popular celebration which includes a sung Mass.
Hiking, mountain biking, trekking, horseback riding, trout fishing,
climbing are some of the activities you may choose to endeavour in many natural spots nearby. Ideal locations are: Plataforma, Laguna Grande, Cinco Lagunas, Puerto del Pico, Cuevas del Aguila, and the valleys of Tietar and Jerte.
This Parador has fifty six twin bedded rooms, fourteen rooms with a double bed and four suites.
All rooms have a private bathroom and also a telephone, satellite television and a mini bar.
There is air conditioning in the public rooms, a restaurant and bar. Facilities are available for meetings and for the disabled.
The Parador has a tennis court and in the garden there is a children's play area but no swimming pool.
Pets are not allowed.
