Compared with most of the towns in which the Paradors are situated, Puerto Lumbreras is uninteresting and most guests are stopping overnight on their way to other destinations. Those wishing to see the old towns should travel eighteen kilometres to the north to Lorca and visit the castle. Visit the main square, and the churches of San Patricio and San Francisco. Most of the older parts of the city is from the eighteenth century when it was rebuilt following an earthquake.
If in the area at Easter, the Easter parades through the streets should be seen.
In the opposite direction there is the Spring Festival in Murcia which is held from 16 to 23 of April each year
The car journey to the beaches finds them unspoiled by the development that has taken place in many areas of the coast.
