A mixture of history, art and tradition is felt here at the Parador "Hostal Dos Reis Catolicos". Located in the Plaza do Obradoiro, it forms a magnificent golden corner with the cathedral imparting beauty on one of the most visited regional capitals of the world.
The hostal which originated as a Royal Hospital in 1499 to give shelter to the numerous pilgrims making their way to Santiago, still today invites the traveller to enjoy this universal and fascinating city.
The Hostal dos Reis Catolicos offers its guests a varied menu comprising of many fishes and meats cooked the Galician way, and sweets like the apple and caramel cream ”filloas” (kind of pancakes). A stroll through Santiago is of great interest. The Ascension celebrations extend for ten days of May in which many folklore groups participate. On July 25th there is the solemn Mass and the National Offering to the Apostle Santiago (Saint James). The cliffs of the Costa do Morte (Death Coast) are impressing, as well as the splendid views that you will encounter at Finisterre (Land‘s end).
