This beautiful Parador is located in the monumental town of Trujillo which is the birthplace of such conquistadors as Pizarro. Situated in the former Santa Clara monastery you will sense the atmosphere of peace and quiet.
Inside there are two beautiful cloisters; one Renaissance with arches and columns while the other offers a note of luminosity which embellishes the surroundings.
The Parador is air conditioned and has a swimming pool and garage. Noble bedrooms are dominated by wood and a bar is found to be located in the space which the refectory formerly occupied. The dishes served in the dining room are very tempting, the most outstanding being the tomato and cumin soup, the "cochinillo de montanera" (roast sucking pig) and the typical Iberian sausages and hams.
Be sure to visit the castle, the walls, the churches of San Martin and Santa Maria la Mayor, and the Museum (and former house) of Pizarro.
During the Holy Week you may enjoy the celebration of "The Descent of the Angel". The Feasts of Santa Ana are from 24th to 30th of June which include the traditional ball called "La Revoltosa" which is declared of tourism interest. Visit the Natural Park of Monfrague, the Jerte Valley with its famous sherry trees blossoming in spring time, the Ibores region, and the valley of La Vera. The accommodation in this hotel of the Paradors group is in forty three twin bedded rooms and five suites. All the rooms have a private bathroom and also a telephone, satellite television, safe and a mini bar. The building has air conditioning in the living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, a restaurant and a bar. Conference facilities are available if required. Pets are not allowed in the luxury hotels in the Spanish Paradores group. Parador de Trujillo is a hotel in a sixteenth century convent. |
